Ripped Power Review
Ripped Power ephedra diet pills are marketed as providing a number of benefits for dieters, bodybuilders and athletes who want to cut fat but preserve muscle
According to American Generic Labs, this product “will give you the ripped physique you want” by promoting the following effects:
- Thermogenic ingredients that turn you into a fat-burning furnace
- Enhanced metabolism
- Increased weight loss and muscle preservation
- Appetite suppression
- Higher energy levels
Can Ripped Power manufactured by (AGL) provide all these benefits in one capsule?
The designers of the product state that it’s made with athletes and bodybuilders in mind and was formulated to provide consistent fat loss through the power of thermogenics. The manufacturer also states that this product includes ingredients to promote fat loss and not muscle breakdown.
Any time you go on a calorie-restricted diet or become more active, your body will increase the rate at which it breaks down protein molecules and converts them into energy. This is unavoidable during a cutting phase and can cause you to lose some of your hard-earned muscle mass.
However, you may be able to prevent this effect and put the body in a state where it burns more glucose and fat for energy while protecting protein stores. Your hormone balance largely dictates where you are getting your energy fromt.
According to the makers of Ripped Power, ingredients found in the product including chromium polynicotinate and L-carnitine will ensure that the body utilizes fat for fuel rather than muscle.
Potential purchasers of Ripped Power should be aware that this product has some additional ingredients compared to the original Twinlabs Ripped Fuel supplement that it was designed to imitate.
These added ingredients are necessary to make up for the lack of the ephedra alkaloids (mainly ephedrine) that were so popular in weight loss supplements prior to 2004.
Twinlabs Ripped Fuel was an ephedra-based diet pill that had to be taken off the market in 2004 when the U.S. FDA banned the use of ephedra with alkaloids from dietary supplements.
However, the FDA made an exception for products that contain certain species of ephedra without any ephedrine alkaloids. It was the ephedrine content that was deemed unsafe for use in nutritional supplements.
Today, “new and improved” versions of these original dietary supplements without the ephedrine alkaloids continue to be popular in the United States. Ripped Fuel is a good example of this as it contains a form of ephedra with no alkaloid content.
Ripped Power Ingredients
What are the active ingredients in Ripped Power by American Generic Laboratories? When evaluating the potential efficacy of any product, it’s important to review its ingredients.
According to the AGL website, “If you liked Ripped Fuel you’ll love Ripped Power. Ripped Power contains the same key ingredients in Ripped Fuel. Ripped Power also contains exactly the same amounts of Guarana, White Willow Bark, and Ephedra Extract per capsule.”
This statement is misleading, considering that the type of ephedra extract used in this product is different from the type used in the Twinlabs Ripped Fuel product.
Like many other dietary supplements today, Ripped Power contains a proprietary blend of ingredients and does not disclose the specific milligram or microgram strength of all of its active components.
The manufacturers do list dosages for some ingredients. For example, we know that this supplement contains 20 mg of ephedra extract. But we do not know which source the ephedra comes from.
The product is also listed as containing a proprietary blend of 325 mg consisting of:
- Acacia rigidula extract (leaves)
- Theobroma cocoa extract (seed)
- Phenylethylamine HCl
- Quebracho extract (bark3)
Additional ingredients found in Ripped Power include:
- 20 mg of ephedra extract
- 100 mg L-carnitine L-tartrate
- 910 mg Guarana seed extract (standardized for 100 mg caffeine)
- 200 mcg chromium polynicotinate
Many of these ingredients are similar to what was found in the original Twinlabs Ripped Fuel supplement. However, there are some additional stimulant compounds that are designed to increase metabolism and make up for the lack of ephedrine alkaloids.
How Does Ripped Power Work?
Ripped Power is a thermogenic supplement formula that helps you burn more fat by increasing your basal metabolism. This product contains a number of stimulant ingredients with synergistic effects.
The primary reason for taking this product is to raise the rate at which your body passively burns calories, give you more energy when working out and help to control your appetite.
In addition, ingredients in this supplement are included to favor a nutrient repartitioning or body recomposition effect whereby muscle mass is protected, and fat cells are targeted.
Ripped Power is designed to mimic the now-banned ephedrine supplements that were removed from the US market in 2004. While it does contain “active ephedra extract”, it lacks the alkaloids in this plant that are associated with weight loss.
Research showed that the combination of ephedrine and caffeine was particularly effective for fat loss, but also had the potential to cause serious side effects. Ephedrine is an alkaloid found in the Ephedra Sinica or Ma Huang plant.
In some small studies, Chinese Ephedra Sinica extract was shown to contribute to moderate decreases in body mass index and body weight in obese individuals. Studies exploring the benefits of ephedra were only short-term in nature (less than six months), so long-term efficacy has not been determined.
Other species of plant that are native to the United States are not nearly as potent and contain very little or no alkaloids. For example, the type of ephedra found in the Ripped Power supplement from AGL does not contain any ephedrine alkaloids.
Since these alkaloids have been banned in many countries around the world, including the U.S., other ingredients have been substituted or increased to trigger the same effects.
Ripped Power contains Acacia rigidula, which has also come under scrutiny and has prompted warnings by the FDA as an adulterated and unlawful ingredient in many weight loss supplements today.
Chromium is classified as a mineral that has the potential to influence metabolism as well as proteins, and storage of fats and carbohydrates in the body.
L-carnitine is defined as an amino acid, which serves as the foundation for protein synthesis, required for new muscle growth. Carnitine is also involved in the transportation of fat molecules into cells to be converted into energy,
Just about everyone is familiar with the stimulating effects of caffeine. The standardized 100 mg of caffeine in each serving of Ripped Power is approximately the same milligram strength of caffeine found in a cup of black coffee.
Caffeine promotes fat loss by increasing your metabolism, mental and physical energy, stamina as well as motivation. It also has a mild appetite suppressant effect which can contribute to weight loss.
It is recommended that individuals taking ephedra products containing any herbal stimulants including caffeine avoid consuming additional sources of caffeine. This could lead to excess consumption of stimulant ingredients.
As a comparison, a 20-ounce Starbucks coffee blonde roast contains 475 mg of caffeine. A 2-ounce espresso contains 150 mg caffeine, while an 8-ounce can of Red Bull contains 80 mg caffeine. Five-Hour Energy Shots contain 200 mg caffeine per serving.
Recommendations for Use

An individual can take anywhere from three to six tablets a day, depending on tolerance, goals, and results. Users who are new to ephedra fat burners or who are trying Ripped Power for the first time should start at the lowest dosage to determine how your body reacts to it.
