Ephedrine and T3 Cytomel Stack Review for Weight Loss Results

Ephedrine T3 CytomelEphedrine and T3 Cytomel are two fat burning drugs commonly used by bodybuilders, dieters and athletes to increase metabolism and promote fat loss.

Ephedrine is an FDA regulated ingredient that is approved for use in over-the-counter asthma medications and treatments for breathing disorders. The ephedrine alkaloid has been banned from dietary supplements, but ephedra extract (the herb from which it is derived) is still legal.

Cytomel is a brand name for a drug that contains the synthetic thyroid hormone T3, also known as liothyronine or triiodothyronine. Cytomel is a prescription drug that is used to treat hypothyroidism and works by increasing metabolism.

While both Ephedrine and Cytomel are effective for weight loss, they also carry a risk of side effects. Neither are approved for use as diet pills or for other for nonmedical purposes.

Many bodybuilders will combine Ephedrine and T3 Cytomel in a weight loss stack or a cutting cycle. These drugs may also be used in an ECA stack or mixed with clenbuterol and certain anabolic steroids. Click here to buy ephedra supplements online legally without a prescription.

Ephedrine Basics

Ephedrine is a component of the ephedra family of plants. It is only one of a handful of alkaloids found in the plant that have stimulant-like effects.

Not all ephedra species contain ephedrine alkaloids and the amount found varies widely based on plant origin, growing conditions and cultivation methods.

Ephedra Sinica, a version of the plant found in China, has the highest total alkaloid content, of which 75% is reported to be ephedrine or pseudoephedrine.

The effects of ephedrine include central nervous system stimulation through the activation of beta-adrenergic receptors. Purported benefits of this compound include:

  • Boosting metabolism
  • Fat burn
  • Weight loss
  • Increased energy and/or stamina
  • Appetite suppression
  • Mood enhancement
  • Increased motivation and drive

Technically, ephedrine is defined as a sympathomimetic amine that activates the sympathetic or autonomic nervous system. It has the potential to increase respiratory rate, heart rate, and energy consumption. It also influences metabolism and has been shown in studies to promote weight loss.

Ephedrine has a similar mechanism of action as adrenaline, a neurotransmitter hormone that triggers the body’s fight or flight response. This plant alkaloid causes your body to mobilize more stored calories and convert it into heat and energy. It is considered to be a thermogenic agent.

While it is not as powerful as clenbuterol, it is easier to purchase in many locations. Bodybuilders will often use this product as dangerously high doses to increase their endurance, pre-workout energy and exercise intensity.

It is also common to use ephedrine in an ECA stack with caffeine and aspirin. Studies show it is highly synergistic with caffeine and produces greater weight loss when used in combination.

Ephedrine gained the reputation of being an effective weight loss ingredient among bodybuilders and body-conscious individuals. In addition to raising your metabolic rate, it also has an appetite suppressant effect which can make it easier to achieve a calorie deficit during a cutting cycle.

In 2004, the US Food and Drug Administration banned the presence of ephedrine alkaloids in dietary supplements because of a high number of side effects and adverse reactions. Other countries soon followed suit and this substance is now prohibited for competitive athlete sand bodybuilders.

However, there are still avenues through which it is legal to buy Ephedrine over-the-counter in pharmacies and online. This ingredient is available in non-prescription medicinal products that treat asthma, colds, coughs, or flsus.

Pharmaceutical products that contain this ingredient sold in the US are heavily regulated. Purchasers may be required to show ID and have their transaction recorded in a centralized database, along with their signature.

These products also are not allowed to contain more than 12.5 or 25 mg ephedrine HCL per dose and are often required to contain other ingredients like guaifenesin which counteract the potential weight loss benefits.

However, it is common for bodybuilders to buy Bronkaid pills, Primatene or Ephedrine plus pills to use in fat burning stacks. It is also still legal to purchase ephedra diet pills, so long as they have had their ephedrine content removed.

T3 Cytomel

T3 Cytomel is a brand name thyroid medication commonly used in the treatment of hypothyroidism. This is a condition in which the body does not produce enough thyroid hormone naturally.

In the United States, Cytomel is a prescription-only drug. Cytomel is a synthetic hormone that is designed to replace the body’s low levels of natural T3.

This hormone has the potential to affect the body’s metabolism as well as energy utilization. Its chemical name is liothyronine sodium.

While the body does manufacture T3 hormone endogenously, low levels or underactive thyroid function can contribute to weight gain, low energy, poor cognitive function and other problems. If you do not naturally make enough T3, it may necessitate a person taking the synthetic medicine.

Bodybuilders and dieters will take synthetic forms of T3 even if they have normal thyroid activity to stimulate fat loss. Some of the effects of Cytomel include:

  • Increased resting energy expenditure
  • Weight loss
  • Increase lipolysis (breakdown of stored fats)
  • Increased glycolysis (breakdown of glucose/blood sugar)
  • Lower cholesterol levels

While this may sound positive and beneficial for athletes or dieters who want to shed excess body fat, it can interfere with normal thyroid function. Interrupting your natural hormone balance can negatively affect a number of body functions and adrenal hormone regulation.

Side effects can occur with off-label use of T3 Cytomel including confusion, irregular heartbeat, fatigue, fever, changes in appetite, dizziness, diarrhea, chest tightness, muscle pain, stomach discomfort, decreased urinary output and more.

  ECA Stack

ECA and T3 Stack

Use of ephedrine with T3/Cytomel may have a synergistic effect, resulting in rapid weight loss. They both promote increased metabolism by stimulating different pathways in the body.

Bodybuilders will generally stack multiple substances together to achieve faster fat loss results. An ECA and T3 stack is one such combination that is reported to be effective.

This stack uses ephedrine with caffeine and aspirin in an effort to enhance its potential results. This stack may also include Clenbuterol or other agents including Yohimbine, Anavar, Winstrol or Testosterone.

This practice is strongly recommended against due to the increased risk of side effects that can occur when combining these agents. There are no standardized dosage guidelines available for combining ephedrine and Cytomel. Different people may respond differently to this combination.

One of the most common ways to create an ECA and T3 stack is to purchase products such as Bronkaid or Primatene, which contain anywhere from 12.5 to 25 mg ephedrine per dose.

Cytomel is often purchased through black market sources or from international vendors. The milligram strength of T3 Cytomel averages 25 mcg per tablet, designed to be taken once a day.

Dosages for individuals diagnosed with mild hypothyroidism start 25 mcg a day, but if needed, can increase to 75 mcg daily under doctor supervision.

For other treatments, lower dosage may be recommended at 5 or 10 mcg daily with therapeutic response monitored by a physician.

Because it can be difficult to acquire both ephedrine and T3 Cytomel without a prescription in certain parts of the world, substitutes are often used.

For example, in the USA ephedra extract dietary supplements are often easier to purchase online. These products do not contain any ephedrine, but may contain other stimulating herbal products such as synephrine from Bitter Orange (citrus aurantium) and yohimbine from Yohimbe bark extract.

Citrus aurantium promotes a similar in the body as ephedrine and should be used with caution and discretion. While it is reported to be safer, it can cause adverse effects if used excessively or combined with other stimulants.

Warning About Side Effects

When using ephedrine and T3 Cytomel together, be aware of the potential side effects of each. These products should be used under doctor supervision to ensure safety and responsible use.

Common side effects associated with ephedrine or an ECA stack include:

  • Headaches or migraines
  • Jitters or hand tremors
  • Increased nervousness and anxiety
  • Nausea, sometimes associated with vomiting
  • Stomach pain and diarrhea
  • Heart palpitations and racing heartbeat
  • Insomnia or restlessness
  • An energy crash after effects wear off

Side effects associated with higher than normal levels of thyroid hormone can include but are not limited to:

  • Headaches
  • Increased irritability or nervousness
  • Changes in mood and mental function
  • Increased sweating
  • Diarrhea
  • Sensitivity to heat

More serious side effects are possible with high dosages and long-term use of ephedrine and T3 Cytomel. Before using any of these products or taking an ECA and T3 stack, discuss their use with a doctor to determine whether they are appropriate for you.

The side effects can often outweigh purported weight loss benefits. Long-term harm can occur due to the dangers of disrupting normal hormonal levels.
